Prehistoric Trackways Guided Hike

Depending on the weather, Colin may offer the short or long version. See both descriptions here:

Come join us for a shorter hike to the Brachiopod Sidewalk at the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument.
We will also have a show-and-tell of our world-renowned trace fossils made by critters that inhabited the Las Cruces area before the dinosaurs, 290 million years ago! Leading the event will be BLM Las Cruces District Paleontologist, Colin R. Dunn.
Be prepared to hike approximately 1.5 miles on rough and rocky terrain, mostly on the Off-Highway Vehicle trail. Bring plenty of water and appropriate footwear and attire.
You will find us in the big, 2nd parking lot (past the first parking lot with the kiosks). You can arrive at the monument by heading west from the intersection of Shalem Colony Trail and Rocky Acres Trail. Then in about 1/4 mile take a dirt road on the left labeled as Permian Acres.
For questions, let us know on this event page, Messenger, or call us at 575-525-4300.
